2010 Summer Camp Instructors

 

Our Summer Camps are taught by some of the nation's most accomplished coaches and competitors! See bios below...


Suzanne Nasser has been coaching home school debate competitors for five years, coaching several to the national level. She is the primary author of the popular Blue Book Team Policy Debate curriculum, published my Monument Publishing annually. Suzanne’s desire is to see young people trained and equipped to communicate the message of Christ and the Christian worldview boldly and persuasively to an unbelieving world. Her passion is to cultivate a generation of thinkers with solid logic, reasoning, critical thinking and rhetorical skills and firmly believes that speech & debate is one of the best forums to do just that!
Samantha Nasser is going into her junior year as a pre-law student at Hillsdale College. She is a highly accomplished forensics competitor, finishing 5th place in Team Policy debate at the 2007 National Championship and 3rd place in Lincoln Douglas debate at the 2008 National Championship. In March 2009, she and her partner were awarded Pi Kappa Delta collegiate junior varsity Parliamentary Debate National Champions. Samantha is a National Merit finalist and was awarded a Distinctive Honor Scholarship to attend Hillsdale in 2008.  She is the author of the Lincoln Douglas Debate Curriculum and co -author of the annual Blue Book Team Debate curriculum. Samantha has taught speech & debate summer camps in the DFW area the past two years. She is passionate about helping students overcome their fear of public speaking and training them to be better thinkers and communicators.

 

Adam Nasser just completed his 5th year of speech/debate and has earned several distinguished titles including 2010 Lincoln Douglas Debate National Champion, 2010 Lincoln Douglas Debate State Champion, 2010 1st Place Regional Lincoln Douglas Debate Speaker, 2009 Lincoln Douglas Debate State Champion, 2009 Lincoln Douglas Debate Regional Champion, and 2009 1st Place National Lincoln Douglas Debate Speaker. Adam has also excelled in Team Policy Debate, qualifying for nationals for two consecutive years and earning the title of 2008 State Semi-Finalist. Adam also has an impressive record in speech events - he is the 2006 Regional Expository Champion, 2008 State Persuasive Finalist, 2009 State Extemporaneous Champion, 2009 Regional Impromptu Champion, 2009 National Finalist in Original Oratory, and 2010 State Apologetics Champion. Adam is a well-respected leader. He  serves as an instructor for DFW Speech/Debate camps and as a Student Leader at Veritas Speech/Debate club in Coppell, where he does a great job teaching most of the debate curriculum. Adam is passionate about defending truth and helping others to do the same.

Caleb Winn is one of the most accomplished veterans of the NCFCA, awarded National Policy Debate Champion in 2003 and 2nd place in the nation in Lincoln Douglas debate in 2002. In Speech, Caleb was the National Sweepstakes Champion in 2001, and was a national finalist in Extemporaneous Speaking in 2001, 2002, and 2003. Caleb was a nationally-ranked debater at Biola University and served as an assistant coach for the forensics team. He graduated with a Political Science degree in 2008 and currently works in Carrollton, TX.

Andrew Roblyer is a senior at Texas A&M University and has been acting for over 15 years.  He has held roles in film and stage productions, and was consistently ranked one of the top 20 speakers in the country during his tenure in the NCFCA. He is the founder/director of The Honorable Bards, the only entirely student run theatre company in the Brazos Valley. He has been an acting coach for nearly 5 years, and currently plans to pursue an MFA in Acting after graduation. Andrew enjoyed three competitive years in the NCFCA where he received over 50 top awards, including the 2007 National LD Speaking Champion, 2006 Region 3 Speech Sweepstakes Champion, 2006 CO National Open Open-Interpretation Champion, 2007 TX State Humorous Interpretation Champion, and 2007 Region 4 Dramatic Interpretation Champion.

Adam Muldrow is an Assistant District Attorney for Harris County in Houston. He was home-schooled through high-school, completed most of his undergraduate college studies at home, then graduated from the University of Houston's Law School. Adam has been coaching Mock Trial high-school competition for 4 years. This year his team placed 3rd at the State Championship!
Paul Schlaudraff is an accomplished NCFCA competitor and Model UN advocate. During his time in the NCFCA, he received numerous debate and speaking awards including two-time Region IV Team Policy Debate Champion (2006, 2008), 3rd Place National Team Policy Debate Champion (2008) and Texas State and Regional speaking Champion (2008).  In 2009, Paul founded Apostolos Model UN Club and taught students from across the State the art of Model UN. He has attended numerous Model UN conferences throughout Texas and Oklahoma where he has won Best delegate at Model United Nations San Antonio (UN General Assembly), Central Texas Model United Nations (International Court of Justice) and Model United Nations of the Southwest (Special Political Committee and General Assembly). He is very passionate about Model UN and hopes to instill this passion in others.
Jake Aschmutat, a college sophomore majoring in Political Science, just finished his first year at Howard Payne University’s Honors Academy. He holds substantial experience in the art of public speaking in an impromptu setting. His primary 2009 undertakings include the 1st place Regional Apologetics champion and 4th place Lincoln-Douglas Debate Regional finalist. But his competitive speech and debate aspirations did not end with high school. Jake and his partner ranked consistently well throughout the collegiate debate season, placing in quarterfinals, semifinals, and finals at several preliminary Parliamentary Debate tournaments.  He recently entered the hall of fame by placing 2nd in the National Christian College’s novice Parliamentary Debate track, taking 3rd place Parliamentary Debate Speaker. Jake currently coaches the Way South Debate Club in the art of effectively communicating for Christ.

 

Camp Assistants

Ty Harding just completed his 3rd year of speech & debate. He and his partner are the 3rd place STOA National Team Policy champions and the 2009 and 2010 Texas State Team Policy debate champions. Ty also took 3rd place Team Policy speaker at the 2009 National Championship. He also excels in Extemporaneous speaking, where he has competed at the National level. Ty has served as a Team Policy student leader in his club for the past two seasons. He is passionate about debate and enjoys mentoring students to achieve their personal best. 

Natalia Ruiz is a very talented speaker evidenced by her outstanding achievements during her 1st and 2nd season of speech competition. Her 2009 accomplishments include 3rd Place Regional DUO finalist, 1st place Dramatic Interpretation State and Regional Champion and 2nd place National Dramatic Interpretation champion! This year she is the 2010 State Sweepstakes, Dramatic Interp. and Persuasive champion! Thus far, she has also been a finalist in Apologetics, Impromptu and DUO Interp. at nearly every tournament. Natalia coaches speech at her club and is passionate about passing on her love for this powerful communication medium to others.

Isaac Sommers has been competing in speech and debate for 2 years.  During the 2010 season, Isaac was blessed with extraordinary success, including 2nd place Lincoln-Douglas speaker at the Texas National Open, 4th place LD debater at the Colorado National Open, and placing 4th in LD at the 2010 NCFCA National Championship.  Isaac also qualified to Regionals in Impromptu and Apologetics speaking, progressing to Semifinals in the latter at the 2010 NCFCA Region 4 Regional Invitational tournament. Isaac has a passion for Lincoln-Douglas debate and looks forward to helping students get their competition year off to a great start!


Joshua Jones has competed for 4 years in the NCFCA in both speech and Debate. He placed 10th and received 6th place Lincoln Douglas (LD) speaker at the 2010 NCFCA National Championship. He was also awarded 1st place Lincoln Douglas debate speaker at the Texas National Open. At the Regional level, Joshua was a semi-finalist in extemporaneous speech, placed 3rd in Lincoln Douglas debate in 2009 and 2010, and was awarded 2nd place LD speaker in 2010. Joshua enjoys reading the classics and studying philosophy and is looking forward to sharing his knowledge of Lincoln Douglas debate with campers this summer.
