Elsa Paul Castro

Elsa Paul Castro is a seasoned public speaker who has served as a speech and debate coach for a decade. In high school, Elsa competed in speech and debate for three years, winning multiple awards at the local, regional, and national levels in NCFCA, the third-largest speech and debate league in the nation. She qualified to Nationals in Team Policy debate as a novice debater and earned multiple slots to the National Championship each year. Some of her top accomplishments include winning the title of State Champion during her first year of competition, winning second place in the Nation during her first year of Lincoln Douglas debate, and taking four speeches to finals at Nationals in 2014. She has also served as Head Speech Camp Instructor and Coach with both DFW Speech and Debate and a private academy. In college, Elsa competed in Model Arab League and served as the Secretary General for the 2018 Southwest Regional Model Arab League Conference. She graduated with a B.A. in Paralegal Studies and a minor in Piano Performance with highest honors from Texas A&M University-Commerce, and, after working in communications with International Justice Mission in the Philippines for a year, she moved into the finance sector and first worked in the office of the Executive Secretary at the U.S. Department of the Treasury and then as an Analyst and Project Coordinator at a leading financial sector consultancy in Washington D.C. Elsa is currently a Brand, Media, and Communications Fellow with International Justice Mission (the largest international anti-slavery organization in the world) where she supports the same team that she worked with on the ground to combat the online sexual exploitation of children. Elsa is known for telling the story of how her own speech and debate coach changed her life. She loves seeing this same magic happen in the lives of her students — one coaching session at a time!
